CENTRO CHINA BRASIL Mudanças climaticas e Tecnologias Inovadoras para Energia

Biofuels, such as biodiesel and ethanol, play an important role in the attempt to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels and mitigate global warming, by reducing the greenhouse gas emissions. The use of biofuels can also help minimize the economic and social exclusion by encouraging the rural population to continue working at the rural areas, without having to migrate to urban areas. This issue is of special interest to Brazil and China.

The main objective of the Bioenergy Project is to develop experimental research in order to obtain new forms of biofuel production. The first step is to evaluate the Brazilian and Chinese state-of-the-art technology. After that, the researchers will try to identify and develop guidelines and strategic technologies in order to use different sources of biomass.

In the next 36 months, the project’s objective is to train professionals capable of carrying out research and developing processes in Brazil and in China. The project is also aimed at suggesting public policies for bilateral cooperation in the area of interest.
